This Is Not A Place Of Honor
- Virgil III -
Someone shared this in one of the exclusion zone newsgroups, so I thought I'd share it too. It's an overview of the Virgil III mission that was recently declassified.
Per the National Archives page:
"Virgil III was the third test of the Virgil program, designed to measure the spatial characteristics of metaspace. At 10:30 AM, November 19th, a signal was broadcast from Roanoke Station uniformly in all directions. It quickly passed the stability horizon, and over the course of the next day, the rebound of the signal was detected and mapped. This file showcases a digital recreation of that signal's path, created by the National Exotic Sciences Commission."
Even though the DOA is very gung-ho about their classification, anything scientific they make gets declassified rather fast, especially if someone puts in a FOIA request. This only took about a month to be declassified.
As far as I know, this is the clearest view into the Beyond we've ever had, and you can see how things that we'd consider fundamental, like distance and rotation, just... aren't. Yes, I know, we already knew that, but it's a whole different thing to directly see it. It's really interesting.
